Roller coasters, one of the most popular forms of amusement park rides, have a long and fascinating history in Bangladesh. The first roller coaster in the country was built in 1983 at the Nandan Park, located in the capital city of Dhaka. This wooden coaster, called the “Flying Dragon,” had a height of 40 feet and a maximum speed of 35 miles per hour. It quickly became a favorite among thrill-seekers and set the stage for the development of more advanced and exhilarating roller coasters throughout the country.
Over the years, roller coasters in Bangladesh have evolved into bigger, faster, and more technologically advanced rides. In 2002, the country saw the first steel roller coaster, the “Thrill-Swing,” at the Fantasy Kingdom amusement park. This coaster had a height of 60 feet and reached speeds of up to 45 miles per hour. It also boasted inversions, making it the first looping coaster in Bangladesh. This marked a major milestone in the evolution of roller coasters in the country. Today, there are several amusement parks across Bangladesh that offer a variety of roller coasters, from traditional wooden ones to high-tech steel ones with complex twists, turns, and inversions.
Roller coasters have come a long way in Bangladesh and continue to be a major source of entertainment and adrenaline for both locals and tourists. The country’s amusement parks are constantly striving to push the limits and introduce new and innovative coaster designs. With the growing popularity of these thrilling rides, it’s safe to say that the history and evolution of roller coasters in Bangladeshi amusement parks is far from over.
